Exercise: Focal lengths and different viewpoints

For this task, i took 2 pictures. One photograph with the greatest zoom available, the subject filling the whole frame and a second photograph with a wide angle lens again with the subject filling the entire by walking forward instead of zooming in.
This image was produced with the biggest zoom available on my standard lens. It had a focal length of 55mm

I zoomed out slightly and changed my lens to a wide angle lens and took the photo again. This photograph had a focal length of 40mm on my wide angle lens.

Looking back, for the second photograph, i should have zoomed out a bit more, to give a more noticeable effect.
The details in the first photograph are slightly more blown up than in the second photograph.
The depth of field is greater in the first photograph, the entire photograph is in focus whereas in the second photo the bushes in the background are slightly out of focus. There is more of a sense of space within the first photograph, things appear more spaced out than in the second photograph.
