Exercise: Focal length and angle of view

For this first exercise, i took 3 photographs of the same subject each with a different focal lengths
To begin with, i had to find the standard. I held the viewfinder to my eye, and adjusted the zoom until the image in the view finder was the same as what i could see with an unaided eye. I then took another photograph with the widest angle available to me, and a final image with the furthest telephoto setting my camera had. I then printed these images and returned to the same spot to find the viewing distance. I did this by holding the photograph up until the photograph and the scene around it looked the same size.
The first picture i took had a focal length of 40mm. This is the standard.
When i held the printed photograph against this scene, the comfortable viewing distance was just under arms length, I'd say roughly 50cm.

The next picture i took was with the largest zoom my camera had. Giving it a focal length of 55mm. The comfortable viewing distance for this was with my arms slightly bent. I'd say roughly about 40cm away from my face.
The final photograph i took was with the widest angle i could do. A focal length of 35cm. When i returned with the photograph to find a comfortable viewing distance, i found that was at arms length away from my face, roughly about 60cm or so i would say.
