I have began reading Basic Photography 2: Lighting by David Prakel, as suggested by my tutor.
Reading this, i have learned new, and refreshed my memory on method of manipulating, enhancing and working with available light to achieve the best quality pictures.
I have learned the effects of different types of lighting on various subjects, and what times of day give what coloured light, and to what degree.
The main thing i have taken from this book so far, is on exposure. Light meters take in what they expect to see on an average scene, and so should not always be trusted to the full degree. Predominantly light subjects are often underexposed by 2 stops and predominantly dark subjects overexposed. And so when the scene is overly dark, or light this needs to be accounted for and the exposure adjusted by one or two stops than what is suggested by the light meter to get the best quality picture and the right colour balance for that light and subject.
